Airtel Launches Free AI-Based Fraud Detection to Protect Users from Online Scams
In a major move towards safer digital experiences, Airtel has introduced a powerful AI-based internet security solution aimed at protecting users from online frauds. This new Airtel AI scam protection system will automatically safeguard both mobile and broadband users from phishing, malicious links, and scam attempts across platforms like WhatsApp, OTT apps, emails, and more.
How it works
The Airtel fraud detection feature is powered by a multi-layered artificial intelligence engine that works in real-time. It continuously monitors internet traffic and cross-verifies links against global threat databases and Airtel’s own repository of harmful domains. If a subscriber clicks on a suspicious link, the system blocks the website from opening and instead shows a warning page explaining the risk.
According to Gopal Vittal, Airtel’s Vice Chairman and MD, this Airtel AI technology has already been tested over the past six months and has shown excellent accuracy in blocking threats. The system will provide WhatsApp scam protection Airtel users need, while also covering Telegram, social media, emails, and other communication channels.
Currently being rolled out in the Haryana circle, the feature will soon be available across India. The best part? This Airtel cybersecurity update comes at zero extra cost. It is automatically enabled for all users, making it one of the most accessible and user-friendly tools for online scam prevention in India.
This launch follows Airtel’s earlier steps to enhance user safety, such as the free scam alert Airtel feature that warns customers of spam calls and SMS—especially those from international sources.
